When my husband deployed in 2008, I was on a mission to find resources and information to help me get through the rough period. Among the many books I read Army Wives was one that I came across. I had been watching the show since it aired in 2007, and when I came across the book I had no idea the show was based off of it. So needless to say, this made me all the more excited to get reading. I obviously enjoyed it because I had finished it in two days and I was completely mesmerized with it and wished there were more to read when I finished it. Being an Army wife myself, I was finally happy to see someone that could take a story and make it so real.

Army Wives: The Unwritten Code of Military Marriage

Tanya Biank has truly captured in this book what it means to be an Army wife from different points of view, An Army wife herself, journalist and former Army brat. If you haven’t seen the Lifetime series Army Wives, then I highly suggest you pickup this book immediately. As a new military spouse or one that has been around for years, this book will not only give you a glimpse into the life of Army wives, but it is a story that will leave you wanting more.

This book is focused on the lives of four Army wives, who are faced with the typical demanding and burdensome military lifestyle. Determined to face these obstacles and overcome them, this story shows how these four women put their lives back into order regardless of the military life and war. A unique and refreshing look into the military life, this book is a must read for all – not just Army wives! This is one book that I am proud to own and keep within my many other military books.
