Operation Purple: Family Retreats

Written by Angela Caban,

Operation Purple Family Retreat is designed to help families to reconnect after experiencing the stresses of a deployment. This is a great opportunity to be able to spend some time together with your family, be outdoors, make friends, and enjoy quality time together.

The four day retreats will be taking place in National Parks and are led by experienced outdoor educators. Applications for these retreats are now being accepted for the following locations:

  • Headlands Institute in Sausalito, California from March 4 – 7, 2011
  • Teton Science Schools in Jackson, Wyoming from March 11 – 15, 2011.

Operation Purple Family Retreats are open to service members and their families who have experienced a deployment within the last 15 months. In order to be eligible, service members must have returned from deployment no less than 3 months and no more than 15 months prior to the start date of each retreat.

Travel expenses are not included, but families who attend will receive a $200 stipend per family before departing from the retreat site to offset the cost of travel.
