Cell Phones for Soldiers | Helping Military Families Keep in Touch

I guess you can say I am one of those people that lives with her cell phone. When my husband deployed, it became my secret lover. Waiting anxiously for it to ring and carrying it everywhere with me, yes even to the bathroom. A few months ago I noticed that my collection of cell phones was growing rather quickly, my provider lets me upgrade my phone every 18 months for free, which means my side table drawer becomes the drawer of “outdated phones”. So I needed to decide what to do with my collection of phones, should I sell or donate?
I came across a wonderful site called Cell Phones for Soldiers that collects old cell phones in order to provide soldiers with calling cards to call their families while overseas. The company was founded in 2004 by 12 and 13 year old Brittany and Robbie Bergquist. The organization provides over 90 minutes of free talk time to each soldier.
So instead of selling my phones, I sent all 6 phones over to Cell Phones for Soldiers. What is better than knowing your contribution of an old phone that is not being used, will help a solider get in touch with their family?
Here’s How it Works
-Visit their website www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com
-Click on the category that suits you
-Print your free postage label (or if you pay for your own postage, the organization is able to provide more callings cards for troops.)
-Prep your package (they accept batteries, charges and accessories but it is not required.)
-Mail it!
Pretty simple right? For more details on this organization and how you can help, please visit their website www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com.
